Walks around Voley Farm There are lovely walks from Voley Farm; of different lengths to suit all walkers. Footpaths lead through some glorious Exmoor countryside whatever the season. You can walk from your cottage door to the sea at Heddons Mouth and back, stopping for lunch at The Hunters Inn. You can wander to the moor on Trentishoe, Holdstone Down and Parracombe Common from the farm. Or you can take a gentle ramble through our fields down to the river and back. We provide maps and routes for local walks. The river at the bottom of our valley A few minutes stroll from the cottages, this delightful little river runs into the Heddon and then to the sea. It is very popular with small children, small fish and wild deer. You can see the deer at dusk and dawn coming to drink. Local wildlife Among the many kinds of wildlife you might see at Voley Farm are red deer, voles, otters, badgers, hedgehogs, rabbits, foxes, stoats, wildfowl, owls, bats and buzzards. In fact the buzzards often sit on top of the telegraph poles at the top of our farm track and stare haughtily down at us! There is also an abundance of birds to watch, ranging from nuthatches and green woodpeckers to our summer visiting barn swallows and pied fly catchers. You will also see tawny owls on the track and in the courtyard. The stars at night On a clear night the stars above Voley Farm are an amazing sight. You will see the Milky Way in all its glory unhindered by the glow of street lights. |
